Who We Are

A brand and design studio for founders building something new.

Meet the Founder

Sarah Black is a New York-based designer. Prior to starting Sandcastles, she worked at Gensler, designing digital and physical brand experiences for global consumer, lifestyle, sports, real-estate, and hospitality brands. She then joined King & Partners designing for luxury real estate and hotel brands across New York and Miami.

Working at that scale helped shape how she thinks about building influential brands: not just as identities wrapped around a product, but as ecosystems and personalities that live in the world — systems flexible enough to grow far beyond any single product and with a character and perspective people can really connect with.

With an understanding that the most consequential brand decisions happen at the beginning, Sarah started working with early-stage founders 1:1 and fell in love with being there from the start, eventually starting Sandcastles.

Sarah holds a B.S. in Design and Environmental Analysis from Cornell University.

Why Sandcastles

Named for the most fundamental act of building something from nothing — and many summers where whole worlds were built from a handful of sand. Cassils (pronounced Castles) is also Sarah's middle name…we love a good double meaning.
